WE HAVE IT ALL RIGHT HERE!
Do you know how to "How-To"?
Deep down we all have a little do-it-yourselfer in each of us. I believe it extends from our Neanderthal Brothers of long, long ago. Man has always had to do it for himself or his for his brethren. Of course some of us are better than others at it and there lies the invention of tradesmen or tradeswomen.
People who specialize...and by the way...we now have to pay or trade a premium. But that does not stop the desire we have to try our luck at home improvement, car repair, weight loss, tax preparation, investing, gardening and much more. More Power to Ya.
That spirit will always live in man, in spite the complacency we have these days of hmmm...it looks just fine the way it is. or I'll get to that tomorrow.
With the age of video, simplification and visual step-by-step guides. We can make anyone an expert. No need to Google, do it right here. ÔÇÊÔÇÊSo the next time you think of doing that project or need simple instructions, come here and visit some of our videos. And oh yea, welcome to the 21st century.
Happy Viewing, Darrell Miles

At Toyota hearings, auto safety agency feels the heat
By Kimberly Kindy
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, February 25, 2010
Two House hearings this week to probe Toyota's handling of sudden, unintended acceleration in its vehicles also included sharp criticism of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. NHTSA, responsible for overseeing auto safety, was faulted for failing in its duties in more than 60 statements by members of Congress, Toyota drivers and motor safety experts.

NHTSA's role in the crisis will be the focus of two hearings next week in the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.
Rep. Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.), chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee:
"Toyota had three responses: First, blame the driver. Second, blame the floor mat. Third, blame a sticky gas pedal. And NHTSA -- without doing any meaningful independent review -- accepted Toyota's explanations . . . Carmakers have entered the electronics era, but NHTSA seems stuck in a mechanical mind-set."
Joan Claybrook, a former NHTSA administrator and a former president of Public Citizen:
"This agency is a cop. It's a policeman. They should act like one. If people don't like it, too bad. . . . I don't know if [NHTSA] has been beaten down or it just doesn't care."
Rhonda Smith, whose Lexus sedan in 2006 suddenly accelerated for six minutes, reaching 100 mph. NHTSA blamed the floor mat:
"Shame on you, Toyota, for being so greedy, and shame on you, NHTSA, for not doing your job. . . . We would also like to ask this committee to set a higher standard for NHTSA to be held accountable for in the future."
Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-N.Y.), chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee:
"NHTSA failed the taxpayers, and Toyota failed their customers."
Sean Kane, president of Safety Research and Strategies:
"The NHTSA investigator came in with a preconceived notion of what happened: 'This [electrical problems] can't possibly happen.' That concerns us. They have to come in with an open mind. They must sink their teeth into issues."
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood responded to criticism of the agency:
"We aren't going to compromise on safety. Not on my watch. We are going to hold Toyota's feet to the fire."

Jackson's comeback: What might have been
Michael Jackson's tour might have bagged $400 million. His death leaves a host of questions, possibly messy fights and the prospect of renewed interest in the star's music
Michael Jackson's story, in the end, is the ultimate Hollywood comeback that was never to be.
FORTUNE 500
LOS ANGELES (Fortune) -- -- One of the executives whose hapless job it was to determine whether Michael Jackson really had it in him to mount a 50-show concert gig in London slated to begin next month told me a few weeks ago that Jackson was surprisingly robust.
What was clear, the executive recalled, was that Jackson was motivated not just by financial gain or rehabilitating his career -- though he had dug himself quite a hole in both areas over the years. More than that, Jackson was doing it for his three young kids and his wish for them to see him back on top of his game -- more "King of Pop" than the "Wacko Jacko" the tabloids had branded him (with considerable justification).
Buz Kohan, a producer, longtime friend and collaborator of Jackson's -- he wrote the lyrics to the now sadly apt ballad "Gone Too Soon" -- was planning to attend a full rehearsal of the show at Los Angeles' Staples Center this weekend. "He was very enthused and his energy level was high as well as his optimism," said Kohan. "Not that it was a last hurrah -- but it was like a reawakening."
Another executive who had dealings with Jackson over the years recalled hearing of his being rushed to hospital in Los Angeles on Thursday: "The first thing everybody thought was 'here he goes again,' " this person said. "Three weeks before a TV show or concert he gets sick to get out of things."
Very quickly, of course, it became clear that Jackson, 50, had suffered apparent cardiac arrest, and he was pronounced dead after being rushed to UCLA Medical Center. It was all over except for the speculation about his final days, the tributes, and the messes that Jackson's untimely death has left behind.
Jackson's was a life and career of staggering talent and towering weirdness, and perhaps the ultimate cautionary tale of the perils of child stardom. We'll leave most of the saga for others to parse, but marvel instead at how Jackson is now something more: the ultimate story of the Hollywood comeback that was never to be -- at least not the way it was planned.
In business, as in life, Jackson did nothing in small measure.

"When we located the plant, Kruiper cut off a stalk that looked like a small spiky pickle, and
removed the sharp spines. In the interest of science, Stahl ate it. She described the taste as "a little cucumbery
in texture, but not bad." So how did it work? Stahl says she had no after effects no funny taste in her mouth, no
queasy stomach, and no racing heart. She also wasn't hungry all day, even when she would normally have a pang around
mealtime. And, she also had no desire to eat or drink the entire day. "I'd have to say it did work," says Stahl.

It's the look everyone wants a body to diet for. They're on the beaches, in magazines and all over Hollywood.
How far will we go to get one? How about thousands of miles and deep into a distant culture? South Africa's Kalahari
Desert is home to what could be the answer to an appetite. It's a cactus called hoodia. You strip off the skin, you
strip off the spines, and then you consume it, says weight loss expert Madelyn Fernstrom.
Oprah Winfrey's O Magazine (Talking about hoodia) "Deep in the heart of Southern Africa's Kalahari Desert may lie the secret to weight loss."
LAST MONTH'S TOPIC - "WHY LOSE WEIGHT THE NATURAL WAY"
The natural health trend is more likely to help you achieve a natural weight loss if you
remember the simple principle of not consuming more calories than your body uses; most
people choose to ignore this advice. This is not as simple as it seems though even though
the concept is easy to comprehend; although, currently over 35 percent of Americans
continue to get larger, and they aren't the only ones around the world! Of course, once you
are overweight, you usually want to trim down for a whole lot of reasons, some related to
health, others having to do with looks.
What most people do not realize is keeping at the right weight is much, much easier
than losing it. This is something that all of us know deep down, that if we do not watch what
we eat and how much we exercise, then we are doomed to an overweight future.
For some reason even when dieters who have become used to, and enjoy, a low calorie
diet, they eventually drift back to old habits and start piling the pounds back on again. The
simple fact is this; the longer you ignore natural weight loss programs and stay overweight,
the more likely you are to have health problems.
The importance of maintaining the correct weight is more than just for looks especially
as the number of health problems related to weight and obesity grows. If you think about it,
losing excess weight by natural methods is the most acceptable way to get rid of those extra
pounds but too many people want a quick fix' system.
Natural weight loss is about the food you eat so stick to those which are low in fat,
contain carbohydrates, high in fiber and a moderate amount of protein. You have probably
had a meal like this in a restaurant; a baked or jacket potato with fresh vegetables and some
meat, as lean as possible but it wouldn't have gravy or butter on the potato.
Dietitians also say that the body has a capacity to retain dietary fat more than calories for
regular foods so weight gain is more likely. Another problem is the obsession with fat free or
low fat foods that food manufactures are stacking the shelves with which despite their
popularity are not stopping the problem of obesity.
The weight a person puts on isn't always as a result of high fat foods, although they
obviously do not help, but a result of too many calories turning into body fat. Where this goes
wrong is with overweight people who think that if it's fat free they can eat more of it instead of
eating a healthy snack.
Health experts say it would be better to try eating every three to four hours, which may
mean a nutritious low-fat snack between lunch and dinner. If you are really serious about
getting rid of those unwanted pounds, you will have to consider natural weight loss as a long
term proposition.
Obesity is fast becoming the number one health problem in developed and developing
countries around the world; this problem is now affecting a large number of children of
school entry age. In order to lose those excess pounds, many people resort to surgery
whereas other people realize that a healthy diet with regular exercise is a better method. If
surgery isn't bad enough, increasing numbers of overweight people start to take weight loss
drugs as a fast and relatively inexpensive way to shed excess fat.
These drugs work in a variety of ways but mainly they try to fool the brain into thinking the
stomach is full and increase the person's metabolism. The problem arose when it was found
that one of the side effects from this type of drug was the increased risk of heart valve
disease and of course the drug was quickly withdrawn from use. Since then, newer drugs
have been developed and doctors continue to prescribe them although they are still awaiting
FDA certification.
You may in fact know someone who has used these pills at some time and has first
hand experience of how effective they can be. It is a tempting proposition, to lose weight
while still maintaining the same diet; who would say no? As a consequence, drug companies
spend millions of dollars in research on weight loss drugs while consumers spend even
more buying the pills.
Despite the advances in weight control pills there are still health problems, some of
which people are sickness and diarrhea. The harmful side effects have not been eliminated
and it is possible that you could still suffer from hallucinations, stroke, tremors and heart
attacks. You would need to read the user information for a full list of all the possible side
effects.
The best course of action before taking any type of pill is to consult your doctor; here are
many factors that could contribute to any problems you experience and these do not
necessarily stop when you cease taking the pills. Problems like irritability, tiredness,
vomiting, stomach pains and sleep problems are all common effects reported when
someone stops taking these weight control pills.
Despite all the bad publicity, weight loss drugs do work but they are more successful if
they are used in conjunction with a low calorie diet and regular exercise, preferably using a
properly worked out exercise regime. This type of diet requires a balance of the food groups
to ensure a proper intake of vitamins, minerals and fiber, almost all of which can be bought at
your local supermarket but may require a little preparation.
A person can jog every morning or sign up and workout in a gym but just as a person
should consult a doctor before taking medicines, a doctor should also be consulted prior to
undertaking any form of exercise. A good exercise plan with the use of weights will help
improve the body's ability to burn off the calories and maintain a healthy heart.
Fast, Safe and Highly Effective - that's Hoodia.
For centuries, African Bushmen ate pieces of the cactus-like Hoodia plant from the Kalahari Desert to sustain them during long, difficult hunting trips. A BBC reporter who tried the plant during a trek to Africa sparked public awareness outside of Africa, and medical tests in the last few years proved that the Hoodia of the San Bushmen was truly a natural wonder drug. Many in the United States learned of its existence towards the end of 2004 when CBS 60 Minutes aired a report on the discovery.
Scientists have identified several compounds in Hoodia that chemically communicate a sense of fullness, which our brains interpret as a signal that we've had quite enough to eat, thank you, and couldn't possibly eat even a little more. In other words, Hoodia creates the chemical equivalent of being completely satiated. Yet, while you're eating less and slimming down, the chemicals you're relying on are completely natural, similar to the glucose your body produces when you eat, but much stronger.
